04 Apr Creamy Vanilla Avocado Green Smoothie
I had an abundance of ripe avocados in my house last weekend. This led me to create this super thick and creamy heart opening vanilla avocado green smoothie.
All you need to create this recipe is 7 ingredients, 1 blender, and 5 minutes.
This weeks feature ingredients are: vanilla and avocado.
Vanilla was first derived from a Mexican species of orchid. Hernán Cortés (Spanish conquistador) is credited with introducing both vanilla and chocolate to Europe in the 1500’s. Interestingly, vanilla needs to be pollinated and grows beautifully when wrapped around a cacao tree. Chocolate and vanilla make the perfect pair.
Physically, vanilla helps regulate mensuration, relieve nausea, ease stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, heal wounds, lower blood pressure, and enhance libido.
Avocado along with vanilla, for their calming properties help to release emotional tension. Avocado strengthens the emotional body, open the heart and solar plexus chakra, and promote a sense of ease when learning new concepts. Physically, avocado helps to prevent bad breath, improve heart health, aid in digestion, increase feelings of satiety, relieve nausea, and improve skin health.

This smoothie is a wonderful way to start the day and it’s super versatile. I even made it into a chocolate pudding by adding extra avocado and some cacao powder.

- 1 handful of spinach
- 1 fresh avocado, pitted
- 2 dates
- 1 vanilla bean
- 1 teaspoon maca powder
- 4-6 coconut milk ice cubes
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 tablespoon hemp hearts
- 1 tablespoon spirulina or chlorella
- Add all of the ingredients in the order listed to a high powered blender.
- Blend on high speed until smooth, using a tamper as needed.
- Pour into a glass (or two) and serve fresh!
