28 Nov Chocolate Orange Smoothie
I’ve never really been a huge fan of eating fruits and vegetables on their own. The only ones I liked eating by themselves are the ones I developed an allergy to when I was 15. Hence smoothies.
Lately, I have been cravvvingggg oranges. And what is a better combination than chocolate and orange? Am I right?!? So, today I’m sharing with you this nutrient-rich chocolate orange smoothie to boost your immune system during these winter months.
This smoothie features a few ingredients, some of which include:
Be sure to get a good quality raw cacao powder (not cocoa powder) and cacao nibs . Cacao is full of antioxidants; including vitamin A, C, and E. It can be used as a digestive aid due to the fibre content which keeps you regular as well as the theobromine content which relaxes the muscle lining in your digestive tract. Just another reason to make yourself this delicious smoothie.
Did you know? Chocolate started to circulate through Europe (and eventually the rest of the world) after Hernando Cortez saw Montezuma sip a bitter drink called xocoatl in 1519. For many years chocolate was consumed only as a drink.
Oranges are loaded with vitamin C which is amazing for your skin, cardiovascular system, immunity, and more!
Coconut oil helps your body absorb the fat soluble vitamins as well as give this smoothie a creamy and luxurious texture. I like to blend this smoothie with water to keep myself hydrated and to help with absorption of the vitamin C from the orange.
Remember to buy organic ingredients whenever possible!
